International Scientific and Practical Conference "Interdisciplinary Dialogue in Children’s Rehabilitation"

On May 28-29, 2026, the NpJSC National Center for Children's Rehabilitation hosted the International Scientific and Practical "Interdisciplinary Dialogue in Children’s Rehabilitation". The event brought together leading experts in medical rehabilitation, physical and rehabilitation medicine, nursing, education, and social support for children with special needs, as well as representatives of academic and research institutions, public foundations, and parent organizations.

The conference served as an important professional platform for exchanging experience, discussing current challenges, and identifying effective solutions in the field of pediatric rehabilitation. More than 350 specialists from various regions of Kazakhstan participated in the conference, together with members of the international expert community.

The conference opened with the plenary session "Modern trends in the development of children’s rehabilitation", during which participants discussed the latest developments in rehabilitation services for children, innovative approaches, and prospects for international collaboration.

The scientific program included five thematic sessions:

  • Early intervention – prevention of childhood disability;
  • Robotic technologies in children’s rehabilitation;
  • Modern approaches in physical medicine and orthotics;
  • A child with special needs in society: an interdisciplinary approach to development, education, and adaptation;
  • The role of nursing staff in the rehabilitation process: from management to implementation.

More than 30 scientific presentations were delivered, addressing comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation, the implementation of advanced rehabilitation technologies, the development of multidisciplinary approaches, and strategies for improving the quality of rehabilitation services.

Leading experts from Kazakhstan and abroad shared their professional experience. The conference featured specialists from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, as well as experts from France, Slovenia, China, the Republic of Korea, India, Türkiye, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Belarus.

Particular interest was generated by the exhibition of advanced rehabilitation technologies and orthotic devices designed and manufactured by the Center's specialists. The exhibition showcased innovative solutions aimed at improving the effectiveness of pediatric rehabilitation.

The practical component of the conference continued on May 29, when the Center hosted 11 workshops, attended by more than 300 participants. The workshops covered the following topics:

  1. Early Intervention Technologies;
  2. Robot-Assisted Upper Limb Rehabilitation Using the Rebless Planar Device;
  3. Application of the DEWOLL-ELITE Interactive Platform with Goniometric Monitoring in Children’s Rehabilitation;
  4. Features of Botulinum Therapy in Treating Various Patterns of Spasticity in Children with Cerebral Palsy;
  5. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Clinical Experience in Neurological Disorders;
  6. Clinical Aspects and Techniques of Equinus Correction Through Serial Casting;
  7. Methods of Alternative Communication with Children with ASD;
  8. Application of Sensorimotor Integration with ADHD Elements;
  9. Postural Management Practice: From Assessment to Positioning Outcome;
  10. Organization of the Rehabilitation Process by Advanced Practice Nurses at the NCCR;
  11. Diagnosis and Treatment of Intellectual Developmental Delay in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Treatment of Pediatric Cerebral Palsy in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The conference demonstrated the strong commitment of the professional community to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and integrating innovative technologies into pediatric rehabilitation practice. Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening international partnerships, enhancing workforce capacity, and implementing evidence-based approaches aimed at improving the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families.
