Abstract
Physical medicine devices form the foundation of pediatric rehabilitation. This review article analyzes hardware-based physical medicine methods used at the National Center for Children's Rehabilitation - sinusoidal modulated currents (SMC), electrophoresis, Bioptron light therapy, magnetic therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy procedures (Charcot shower, pearl bath, underwater shower massage), and peloid therapy - based on international studies from 2022 to 2025. TMS and electrical stimulation have been confirmed effective in improving motor function and reducing spasticity in children with cerebral palsy (CP) through systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Hydrotherapy improves gross and fine motor function, balance, and muscle tone. Bioptron polarized light therapy accelerates tissue regeneration and improves microcirculation. Peloid therapy is an effective balneological method for reducing spasticity. Comprehensive rehabilitation with a multidisciplinary team is the key condition for achieving quality outcomes.
