Abstract

The unusual response to sensory stimuli was noticed early in the study of autism. Difficulty processing sensory information such as touch, sounds, smells, taste, brightness and movement. These difficulties can make everyday situations unbearable. Sensory processing abnormalities can cause severe anxiety, leading to obsessive-compulsive behavior and social and communication problems.
